Job Description: Product Owner

HData is seeking to hire a product owner to support the development of the HData RegTech platform. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the product backlog and acting as a bridge to connect the product and development teams.

HData delivers a technology platform that makes it easy for anyone in the U.S. energy industry to file, explore, analyze, and leverage regulatory data. With AI and automation, analysts can easily and accurately uncover the decision-making data they need in seconds instead of spending days sifting through thousands of pages of regulatory filings. 

HData, a Techstars company based in Birmingham, AL, is open to working with qualified employees fully remotely, regardless of their location within the United States. Anticipate minimal travel, with fewer than a handful of yearly trips for team meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing and prioritizing the product backlog

  • Translating product managers’ strategies to tasks for development

  • Learning the market and customers’ needs

  • Serving as a liaison between product and development

  • Staying accessible to development to answer questions

  • Maintaining delivery timelines while representing the development team’s workflows

  • Participating in product management efforts

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Highly effective communication, flexibility with ever-changing customer needs, and a willingness to ask questions and challenge assumptions
  • 3-5 years experience as product owner, product manager, or equivalent 
  • Experience gathering requirements for data-focused projects
  • High attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Understanding of product requirements and how to break them down into effective, meaningful acceptance criteria
  • Comfortable working with and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders with varying personality types
  • Good understanding of Agile methodologies
  • 3+ years of experience with Jira or comparable project-tracking software
  • Deep understanding and commitment to servant leadership
  • Rock star levels of grit and drive 

PREFERENCE TO THOSE WHO:

  • Worked in an energy, government, or financial compliance environment

  • Have experience working in a startup environment
